Biography

Karsten Pruehl studied Art, Film and Design at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar and the York University in Toronto, followed by work as a freelance filmmaker, photographer and illustrator. After several TV-productions in which he worked as a production assistant, he began directing for the European Film Philharmonic, Free University Berlin, DAAD, Grazia and Converse. His first feature-length film "With Love from Madagascar" (2014) was a docu-fiction about the cycling journey of two lovers through the unique but dying nature of Madagascar where they will find a new kind of love. The film earned awards and nominations (including Best Documentary Camgaroo Award Munich, Award of Excellence at The Indie Fest, and was nominated as Best Documentary Feature IFAB Berlin, among others). "Goethes Faust" is his second feature.
