Biography
Jussi Eerola, born 1965 in Finland, has been working as a photographer and cameraman since the 1990s. He has worked with artists and directors such as Auli Mantila, Eija-Liisa Ahtiala and Kari Juusonen and he has a long-standing work relationship with documentary filmmaker and media artist Mika Taanila. Eerola gave his directorial debut in 2009 with the 55-minutes long documentary film "Teknokratiapakolaiset", which focuses on people suffering from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. He was co-director with Mikka Taanila and cameraman of the long-term documentary "Return of the Atom" (2005-2015) about the troubled building process of a nuclear power plant on the Olkiluoto peninsula in Finland. Taanila and Eerola both won the Nordic Dox Award at the documentary film festival CPH:DOX 2015 in Copenhagen. In August 2017, the film premiered in German cinemas.
