Biography
Julian Richberg, born and raised in Fritzlar in North Hesse, completed an internship at a gallery in Kassel in 2012/13, where he was responsible for organizational matters and event photography. In 2013 he moved to Berlin, where he studied communication design at the University of Applied Sciences until 2018. During this time he realized videos for the press office of the university, completed internships and worked as a production assistant. He realized several short films, including "Flatliner" (2018), about a lonely exchange student in Berlin who attends WG showcases to connect with people.
After graduating in 2018, Richberg began working as a freelance director, editor and creative director. He shot music videos for the band 'Beyond The Black' and began work on his first feature-length film in spring 2018: "Arboretum," a mix of coming-of-age drama and mystery thriller, premiered at the 2020 Festival Terror Molins in Molins near Barcelona. The German premiere was at the festival Achtung Berlin. Arboretum" opened regularly in cinemas in February 2023.
