Biography

Josefa Heinsius was born in Leipzig after 2000 (her exact birth date is not publicly known) and graduated from high school in the summer of 2020 at the Evangelisches Gymnasium Hermannswerder near Potsdam. During her school years, she began acting in theater productions. In 2019, she played the role of granddaughter Emma in the premiere of the play "Gehen oder Der zweite April" at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam. Three years later, she performed at the Osnabrück Theater and Music Festival "Freie Schichten" in "Raum – Wie einschränkend kann Freiheit sein." In this free and experimental adaptation of Emma Donoghue's novel "Room," she portrayed the character of Jack, the son.  

Josefa Heinsius made her on-screen debut in 2023 in the youth drama "Tandem - In welcher Sprache träumst du?" ("Langue Étrangère", FR/DE/BE) directed by Claire Burger. The film premiered in competition at the Berlinale 2024, with its German cinema release in October 2024. Also in 2024, Josefa Heinsius began studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin.
