Biography
Joscha Bongard, born in Wolfsburg in 1994, completed a dual apprenticeship as an electronics technician until 2013 and graduated from the Freie Waldorfschule Kassel in 2015. After an internship at the social media agency TubeOne, he worked as a production assistant at the film production company Iconoclast Germany in Berlin. He made his directorial debut in 2015 with the experimental short film "Alacritas," which received an honorable mention at the Kassel Dokfest. In 2016, he directed the music video for "Nostalgic Love" by the band Bergfilm, which screened in competition at the US festival HollyShorts in Hollywood and received an honorable mention at the Leeds International Film Festival (GB), among others.
In 2017, Bongard began studying directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg; in 2020, he was a guest at the La Fémis film school in Paris. During his studies, he shot music videos, commercials and short films. In 2020, his short film "Young, Fragile" premiered at the Riga International Film Festival; at the Kyoto International Student Film Festival, it won the Jury Prize.
With the documentary "Pornfluencer" (2022) Joscha Bongard realized his first feature-length documentary. In it, he portrays a German couple living in Cyprus who have devoted themselves entirely to online pornography and hope to make a fortune from it.
