Biography
Gerd Gockell was born 1960 in Darmstadt. From 1980-1987 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brunswick. He then worked as a freelance animator for the Hessische Rundfunk in Frankfurt. In 1988 he moved to London and worked on several film projects. In 1990 he founded anigraf film production with Kirsten Winter in Hanover. He has had numerous teaching appointments since 1992, including at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brunswick, Ngee Ann Polytechnics in Singapore, the Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel, and the Film University Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf".
From 2002-2011 he was Head of the Animation Dept. at the University of Applied Science and Arts in Lucerne/Switzerland, where he also founded Gerd Gockell Filmproduktion. His films include: "Get Out" (1987), "Crofton Road SE.5" (1990), "Nr. 4" (1990), "Busy Body – Das Interesse am Nachbarn war nie größer" (1991, with Ute Heuer and Sabine Bürger), NR. 5 (1991), "Miles? So What!" (1993), "Nr. 7" (1993), "Tossing Pies" (1995), "The Innocents Abroad" (1998), "Muratti & Sarotti" (2000), "K.Ü.S.S.E" (2001, with Ute Heuer), "Kampf dem Kino" (2002, with Ute Heuer), "Restored Weekend" (2004, with Kirsten Winter), "Optical Percussion" (2008), and "Patch" (2014).
