Desirée von Trotha was born in 1961 and studied at the University of Television and Film in Munich, followed by a scholarship in the film dept. of the Royal College of Art in London. She lives partly in the Tuareg areas of the Sahara desert, where she supports institutions involved in cultural exchange. She works as a news correspondent and director. "Woodstock in Timbuktu – The art of resistance" is her first feature-length documentary.
