Biography

After completing her studies of art and German literature in Leipzig (1986 until 1992) Dagmar Jäger enrolled at the Staatliche Fachschule für Optik und Fototechnik in Berlin. Graduating in 1996, she began to work as frellance cinematographer. In 1998, she enrolled in a prost-grad camera class at Hamburg University, where she studied under Michael Ballhaus. During that time, she also worked as assistant DP for Ballhaus on the US productions "Wild Wild West" (1998) and "The Legend of Bagger Vance" (1999). In 2000, she completed her studies as a certified Director of Photography.

Dagmar Jäger went on to work as DoP on numerous shorts and commercials, and she also shot Kerstin Polte's segment for the compilation film GG 19" (2005-2007). From 2006 on, she was DoP of the TV show "Löwenzahn", and she later also began to work for TV networks RTL and n-tv. In addition to that, she helmed and produced commercials and industry films for clients such as the German Bundesliga and CTB Berlin, and taught and lectured at several universities.

In 2011, she and Kerstin Polke began production on their feature length documentary "Kein Zickenfox", which portrays the world's largest all-female brass orchestra. The film premiered in 2014 and garnered several festival awards before being released in theatres in March 2016.
