Biography

Christoph Kaiser, born in Berlin in 1963, moved to Heidelberg in 1997, where he was involved with the Theaterwerkstatt from 2002. Therer he appeared in various productions, such as Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" (2002-2009), Peter Munk in "Das kalte Herz" (2002-2010) and Fagin in "Oliver Twist" (2010). He also received training as a theater pedagogue at the Theaterwerkstatt.   

In addition, from 2004 Kaiser regularly participated in productions at the Theater am Puls in Schwetzingen, including as Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart's father, Leopold Mozart, in "Das Wunderkind" (2006), as teacher Bremser in "Pünktchen und Anton" (2011/12) and as Mattis in "Ronia, the Robber's Daughter" (2013/14). At the same time, he completed acting and directing training at the Theaterakademie Mannheim from 2012-2014. In the following years, he also appeared on stage at Theaterwerkstatt and especially at Theater am Puls, where he played Injun Joe in "Tom Sawyer" (2019/20) and Polonius in "Hamlet" (2020-22), among other roles.  

In addition to stage acting, Kaiser occasionally took on day roles in television dramas and series episodes from 2007. He played his first major film role as a church cleaner in the homeless drama "Danke tote Katze" ("Thanks Dead Cat", 2017), directed by Benjamin Martins, a fellow actor at Theater am Puls in Schwetzingen. Martins also cast him two years later in the lead role of his feature film "Schattenstunde" ("The Shadow Hour"), about the fate of Christian theologian and poet Jochen Klepper, who was driven to suicide in Nazi Germany with his Jewish wife and their daughter. The film premiered at the 2021 Munich Film Festival. At the First Steps Awards, "Schattenstunde" received the award for Best Feature-Length Film. It was released theatrically in January 2022.
