Christian Mrasek was born in Stuttgart in 1970. He is a member of Cologne's Filmclub 813 since 1994. In 1996, Mrasek, together with Jukka Schmidt, made his first short film "Der Servantilist". Since then, Mrasek participated as author and director in several short films of the "Kölner Gruppe". Furthermore, Mrasek plays in the band project "Die heiligen Söhne des Ackers". The band contributed – among others – to the music of Mrasek's first full-length movie "Die Quereinsteigerinnen" (2005) that he did together with Rainer Knepperges.
In 2008, he wrote and directed a segment of the compilation film "24h Marrakech". With his long-time collaborator Jukka Schmidt, he started work on the low-budget production "Hans Dampf", a modern take on the fairy tale "Hans im Glück", in 2011. The offbeat comedy was released in German cinemas in summer 2013. Apart from being an author and director, Christian Mrasek also works as graphic designer, DJ, and projectionist in Cologne.
