Christian Ditter, born 1977 in Gießen, became an intern at Colonia Media in Cologne after finishing school in 1997. He then started to study Applied cultural studies in Lüneburg but dropped out after one year to study directing at Munich"s Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München. After having already won several awards for his student short films, he received critical respect with movie goers and critics alike for his feature-length graduation film "Französisch für Anfänger" ("French for Beginners", 2006). The youthful romantic comedy won several awards at international festivals. Ditter subsequently directed several episodes of the highly-praised TV comedy series "Türkisch für Anfänger" und "Doctor"s Diary".
In 2009, Ditter"s second feature film, the adaption of the youth novel classic "Vorstadtkrokodile", started in movie theatres. After scoring another success with "Vorstadtkrokodile 2", he directed "Wickie auf großer Fahrt", a sequel to Michael "Bully" Herbig"s 2009 box office hit "Wickie und die starken Männer".
