Biography
Arnon Goldfinger was born in Ramat Gan, Israel in 1963. He studied film and philosophy at Tel Aviv University, and in 1990, he was a scholarship student at the European Summer Film School hosted by director Krzysztof Zanussi in Belgrade. After graduation, Goldfinger taught directing and screenwriting classes at several film schools in Israel and at Tel Aviv University. He made his feature film debut with the award-winning documentary "The Komediant", a portrait of Israeli-American Vaudeville artist Pesach Burstein and his family. Despite the film's success, Goldfinger continued his teaching career. It took eleven years until he presented his next film: "Die Wohnung" is a very personal documentary dealing with an hitherto unknown aspect of Goldfinger's late grandmother's life. As is revealed, his grandparents, who had to flee from Nazi Germany, were close friends with a high-ranking SS officer. The film was screened at numerous international festivals and went on to win the Israeli Film Award and the Bavarian Film Award.
