Anselm Pahnke was born on April 14, 1989 and grew up near Hamburg. At the age of 15, he went on his first longer bike trip with a friend, while at the same time starting to use a camera to document special events in his life. After graduating from school and a voluntary social year in Canada, Pahnke studied oceanography and geophysics in Hamburg. After his graduation in 2014, he made his dream come true: a bike trip through Africa and then around the world. In the end, he travelled for three years, recording his experiences with a video camera. After his return, Pahnke used the footage to compile the feature film travelogue "Anderswo. Allein in Afrika", which was released in German cinemas in December 2018.
