Biography

André Szardenings was born in Düsseldorf in 1989. After graduating from high school in 2009, he gained practical film experience through internships and shot several short films. On Tom Tykwer's "Cloud Atlas" he worked as a location PA set runner. In 2011, he began working for various commercial film productions, mainly as a cinematographer. Over the next five years, however, Szardenings became increasingly interested in directing and scene work. He successfully applied to the International Film School Cologne (ifs) to study feature film directing.

André Szardenings graduated with the feature film "Bulldog" (2021), a love triangle drama starring Julius Nitschkoff, Lana Cooper and Karin Hanczewski. The film was nominated for a First Steps Award in 2021, screened at a number of international festivals and won Best Debut Feature at the 2022 Biberach Film Festival. It was released theatrically in February 2023.
