Film synopsis: Young hairdresser Gabi has a dream: She wants to start a career as a jockey – much to her husband Freddy′s chagrin. With impressible optimism, Gabi travels to Berlin but is rejected by the racing stable Hoppegarten. But the stable master feels pity for the disappointed Gabi and lets her secretly train on stable′s training grounds. With Freddy′s help, Gabi is finally able to sign up for an international race for young jockeys.

"Hochzeitsnacht im Regen" was digitized by DEFA-Stiftung as part of the film heritage funding program "Förderprogramm Filmerbe" (FFE) in 2020.
