The film takes us behind the scenes of animated film production: painting utensils come alive, graphic and optical gimmicks illustrate the possibilities of animation. A stick figure runs through the picture as a "troublemaker," lovingly reprimanded by the narrator. But it is not magic but precision work that sets lines, shapes and colors in motion. Like a score, sounds and music are precisely coordinated with the movements of the figures. As an example, among others, excerpts from the advertising film "Parade" (DE, 1957?) are cited here.
