Naš serbski dom (1959)

Documentary about the construction of the House of the Sorbs on the Postplatz in Bautzen 1947 - 1956 as well as insights into the cultural and political life of the Sorbs after 1945. At the beginning, the laying of the foundation stone for the House of the Sorbs on 24.8.1947, the clean-up work by voluntary youth brigades as well as the following construction work until the completion of the house in 1956 are shown. Subsequently, the House of the Sorbs is presented as a center of Sorbian cultural life, including an event of the Domowina, a performance of the Sorb. Volkstheater, the radio editorial office, the literature museum, the publishing house, the bookstore and the café. At the end of the documentary there is footage of a parade of Domowina groups in Königswartha in August 1958.
