The documentary shows different aspects of training police dogs. The animals learn commands and perform various exercises, including hurdle jumps, which are shown in slow motion. The second half of the movie is staged like a feature film and shows lawbreakers being caught with the help of dogs. It is possible that some or all of "Hüter der Ordnung" is the same material distributed by the Deutsche Lichtbild-Gesellschaft in 1919 under the title "Dressur deutscher Schäferhunde" (Training of German Shepherds).
