Biography
Michael Schaack was born in Hamburg in 1957 and studied at Munich"s Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF) until 1982. Three years later, he founded the "Trickompany Filmproduktion GmbH" in Hamburg. Besides producing commercials, Schaack also drew and produced short film pieces for the popular children"s programs "Löwenzahn", "Sandmännchen", "Sesamstraße", and "Die Sendung mit der Maus".
Schaack made his break-through as a producer and assistant director in 1990 with the exceedingly successful movie "Werner – Beinhart!" and has since established a reputation as a versatile and commercially successful specialist for animation films with stylistically diverse productions such as "Felidae", "Pippi Langstrumpf" (Pippi Longstocking), which won him the 1999 German video prize DIVA) and the Walter Moers adaptations "Kleines Arschloch" (The Little Bastard) und "Das kleine Arschloch und der Alte Sack" (The Little Bastard and the Old Fart).
