Gernot Krää, born 1952, studied political science and at first worked as an assistant director und camera operator. He then went to London and worked for several years for the ARD studio in London. In 1984, Krää returned to Germany to work as a freelance author and director in Munich. He, for instance, wrote screen plays for the TV movie "Ein Stück vom Glück" (1987) and for TV series like "SOKO 5113". In 1992, Krää made his debut as a film director with the award-winning children"s and youth film "Die Distel" ("The Thistle"). From 1993 to 2003, Krää was a member of the board of Verband Deutscher Drehbuchautoren. Furthermore, Krää is a member of the administrative board of VG Wort since 2001, and is an author of Verlag der Autoren. In autumn of 2006, Krää"s second movie, the children"s film "Paulas Geheimnis", won the first prize at the famous children"s film festival LUCAS. The film opens in German cinemas in the summer of 2007.
