Summary
Documentary about rural depopulation and a village community in Northern Germany trying to counter it: The small town of Oberndorf suffers from the fact that many families move away to the larger cities. Diminishing tax returns and the lack of professionals needed for agricultural work threaten the very existence of the town, as demonstrated by the announced closure of the local school. In order to save the community, some locals found a stock company with a bizarre business model: They want to breed African catfish and use the resulting sewage to raise banana trees. Over the course of three years, filmmaker Antje Hubert followed the project, documenting its progress and setbacks.
