Summary
Documentary about African-American writer Darius James, whose texts and essays concern themselves with the origins of US pop culture and American myths. For two months, filmmaker Oliver Hardt accompanied the author on a trip through an extraordinary fraction of the American art scene. Their journey leads them from the urban jungles of New York into the deep South with its blues mysticism of the Mississippi Delta and to New Orleans, the capital of Voodoo. The two meet artists, musicians, healers and Cajun chefs – people who represent the splendid and exceptional blend of cultures in this region, and who continue to inspire James in ever-changing ways.
