Summary
The first German feature to be shot in colour after WWII is a classic example of the "Heimatfilm" genre, which became immensely popular in the 1950s: At a dance, painter Hans Hauser falls head over heels in love with lovely black forest maiden Bärbele Riederle and follows her to her rural hometown of St. Christoph. Although they are clearly destined to be together, the pair-to-be has to overcome several obstacles, including Bärbele′s local suitors and a glamorous revue star who tries to seduce Hans.
