Summary

After the death of her father, whom she cared for until the end, forty-year-old Catherine feels drained, aimless, and lonely. To take her mind off things, she visits her friend Aude in the Brazilian port city of Recife. There, on the beach, she meets Gil, 20 years her junior, who has no obligations and lets the rhythms of the sea, the constant parties and the flow of colorful street life define his life. The two begin a passionate affair, and through this young bon vivant, Catherine learns to live in the here and now and to enjoy the moment. But it is also a painful learning process.
