Running Against the Wind

Summary

Twelve-year-old friends Solomon and Abdi grow up together in a remote Ethiopian village. But one day they go their separate ways. While Solomon moves to Addis Ababa to become a photographer, Abdi stays in the village and trains hard to fulfill his dream of emulating the athletic success of world-famous Ethiopian long-distance runner Haile Gebrselassie: Ten years later, Abdi is nominated for the Ethiopian national running team. This leads him to Addis Ababa, where he searches for his old friend, who is living with his family in an extremely precarious situation.
