Summary
Mo Asumang views the situation before the first Soccer World Cup taking place on the African continent as her chance to get a different kind of view of South Africa. Her aim was to search for the lost vision of the Rainbow Nation. With the comedian Kagiso Lediga, who is her tour guide, they travel in a shaky old minibus to her various destinations. Mo gives all of the strata of society a chance to speak out. Including politicians and other well-known people, such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Helen Zille (Democratic Alliance), Alan Boesak, Frederik deKlerk (former President of South Africa), and Geoff Doidge (ANC Minister), who give their opinions on the Rainbow Nation, the vision that was supposed to replace the apartheid era.
But did that really happen? Mo and Kagiso find the truth in the lives of street children, township families, in the vicinity of crime and security, talk ing with geriatrics from a old-age home in Johannesburg and making friends with the little boy Inganathi, who is HIV positive and with whom Mo develops a close relation ship. They all contribute to the image of a changing African society and prepare the viewer for the 2010 World Cup in an entertaining, profound, and, above all, in a provocative way.
