Summary
"Whenever I want to do something wonderful, you’re always against it", are the words that Hanna is obliged to hear from her boyfriend, Michael. Michael wants to emigrate to Peru with his mate, Günther, who has just completed military service. "For life. And for freedom" – or so they say. The real reason however is a map in the two floor tilers′ possession indicating the whereabouts of some treasure. "Rio das Mortes" describes, in detail, how the disdainful egotism of the world around them and harsh truths conspire to prevent them turning their dream into reality.
