Summary
Contemporary film version of Henrik Ibsen′s famous play. Peer Gynt, a farmer′s son, is an imaginative, enthusiastic, and zestful young man – but at the same time he is unable to finish anything he has started. Peer finally leaves his home town and the beautiful Solveig, who is deeply in love with him, to found his "empire" in a far away place. But even far from home, Peer Gynt is not able to change and stays "a man who has never been himself", as Ibsen said. This unsettling quest takes Peer Gynt several decades before he returns to his home town to finally discover his real self with the help of Solveig.
