Documentation of the model flight competition in Frankfurt am Main, probably the event organized by the Frankfurter Flugmodell-Verein (at that time the presiding club of the Verband deutscher Modellflugvereine) from May 17-21, 1914. The competition took place at the end of a model flying exhibition lasting several days at the Rebstock airfield. On display are different, self-built model airplanes, which are examined and made to fly by the male participants of different ages.

Since the 1910s, Oskar Barnack, the inventor of the Leica, has captured events around Wetzlar on film with his self-constructed film camera. He documented flood disasters, city festivals, medical experiments, sporting events and the company where he was employed as chief designer: the Optical Works Ernst Leitz in Wetzlar. His films form the basis of a film archive in which local history has the same place as the effects of great historical events.
