Millenium Love

Summary

Both are young and have a strong zest for life when they meet by chance in Hamburg during the autumn of 1990. Tom has signed on to set sail with a container ship the next morning, and Katja has to return to her school class.

They have only this one night, but in the course of it they experience all the happiness and pain of love. They know that their love has no future, but they need a straw to cling to. They promise to meet again here, by the Hamburg landing stages, on New Year′s Eve 1999.
Ten years later, both Tom and Katja remember this promise. As yet, their dreams have not come true. It is a long time since Tom went to sea, and now he drives an ambulance in Hamburg. Katja, who wanted to be a politically dedicated journalist, has taken on a job for a Berlin fashion magazine. And their present relationships are defined by caution and pragmatism. The closer it gets to their great date, the more Katja and Tom think about the promise made ten years ago. Independently, each of them visits the old haunts in St. Pauli. This special night has caught them in its grip. But can one night′s great love be repeated?
