Summary
Luce, Wanda, Yelena - It Wasn′t Their War
An Italian woman, a Norwegian woman and a Russian woman break off their studies during the Second World War to go to Germany. The Italian is a Fascist, the Russian a Communist, and the Norwegian sympathises with the bourgeois anti-Nazi resistance.
The three young women are drawn by varying motives, but they have one thing in common: that they see the terror of Hitler′s Germany as a personal challenge. Fifty years on, the three women travel once more by the old routes to Germany to trace the events from back then. Their memories, commentaries and observations give form in the montage to a record of memory with changing perspectives, a kind of diary of the war in which the three women had uncompromisingly interfered. Luce d′Eramo lives today as a writer in Rome, Wanda Heger as a retired social education worker in Oslo, Jelena Rshevskaya as a writer in Moscow.
