Summary
Mildly ironic documentary film based on the autobiographic book by Richard David Precht. The film portrays Precht′s childhood and youth during the 1970s in his radically left-wing parental home in Solingen. American comics were forbidden and in the course of the protest against the Vietnam war, the family adopted two Vietnamese orphans. The German Democratic Republic was the land of Precht′s parents′ dreams and the children tried to emulate their parents world view and their critique of capitalism – although they had to sacrifice Coca Cola and colour TV in the process. Besides Precht, the film also features his siblings and several other family members. Furthermore, the film presents a large number of historical private pictures, documentary footage about the foster family made by the WDR, and also re-enacted scenes on Super 8 mm film.
