Summary
The Koran schools, the so-called madrasas, were once versatile educational institutions; today they teach exclusively the Koran. Although cameras are actually strictly forbidden at the schools, the film provides deep insights into this otherwise closed world. In addition to the institutional structures, it shows the relevance of the schools and explores how orthodox Islam is rooted in the society and history of the Indian subcontinent.
