Summary
A dialogue free – and therefore universally understandable – meditation about existence, the cycles of life, about secularism, spirituality and the unexplainable; reverence and respect, inspiration and emotionality – stimulated by Johann Sebastian Bach’s timeless treasure: the Mass in B minor, BWV 232.
Each of the individual 27 short films is a completed work, in and of itself: in form and content perfected like a small jewel; and in its entirety and flow of events, it all meaningfully melts together into an inspirational journey through creation, presents existential coherences and evokes reflection, to hear and to see… Precise, highly creative complexity in the utmost of technical perfection.
The imagery leads us over alpine mountains and glaciers into peaceful valleys, to pulsating metropolitan cities, recounts the course of mankind in search of the meaning of life, existence and the gaining of knowledge and awareness. Stories about what life has been about over the past centuries, from birth to death, of families, of individual and collective fates, of the history of time and the world, of art and science, intuition and mysticism. The endless pilgrimage of mankind in its search for perfection, spiritual and mental peace, in sacral references in European cloisters and churches, in art – all in harmony with the hypnotically gripping and transcendental music of the Mass in B minor.
