Summary
Heart of Glass
A glassworks in the Bavarian forest in the 19th century. Mühlbeck, a worker, has died and has taken with him the secret formula for ruby glass. Now,shepherd Hias, who is a psychic, is supposed to solve the puzzle but instead has visions of catastrophes that become more and more bleak. The owner of the glassworks, too, tries to find out the formula for ruby glass. Finally, he believes that he needs human blood to make ruby glass. Then he stabs his maid Ludmilla and sets fire to the glass works. The other villagers and, finally, Hias himself then also go insane.
Director Werner Herzog shot this mystic regional film almost exclusively with hypnotized actors.
