Summary
Based on Johanna Spyri's internationally famous, multi-million-selling and eponymous classic novel, everyone's favorite little Swiss girl returns to the big screen once again, and about time too!
The young orphan girl Heidi spends the happiest days of her childhood with her solitary, grumpy-but-not-really grandfather, Almöhi, living far away from civilization in a simple wooden cabin in the Swiss Alps. Together with her friend, Geissenpeter, she herds and tends Almöhi's goats, enjoying all the freedoms that the mountains have to offer. But these happy and carefree days come to a sudden and harsh end when Heidi's Aunt Dete takes her to the large German city of Frankfurt.
From now on she is to live in the house of the well-to-do Herr Sesemann and become a playmate for his daughter Klara, who is confined to a wheelchair. In addition, she has to learn to read and write under the watchful and strict eyes of the nanny, Fräulein Rottenmeier. Although both girls quickly become friends and Klara's grandmother awakens Heidi's passion for books, the young girl's longing for her beloved mountains, her grandfather Almöhi, his goats and her friend Peter becomes ever stronger…
