Isaiah is dead. The little boy fell from the roof of the block of flats. An accident that doesn't really concern anyone. Only Smilla Jasperson (Julia Ormond), mourns for him. Smilla was the only friend Isaiah had. He had come with his mother from Greenland and never really felt at home in the strange big city of Copenhagen. Smilla also knows: it wasn't an accident, it was murder. Smilla's mother was also a Greenlander.
