Summary
Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler: Inferno, Men Of Our Time (Part 2)
The continuation of this silent classic begins with an assassination attempt on the life of von Wenk. The dancer Carozza is suspected of having something to do with the incident and is arrested. When Mabuse learns that Carozza is ready to testify, he sends her poison, with which she commits suicide. After yet another attempt to kill von Wenk, Mabuse′s assistant is arrested and, before he can testify, he too is found dead.
After Mabuse kills Count Told, in order to gain control over the Countess′ estate, he goes to von Wenk and suggests that the Count was driven to suicide by his psychiatrist Dr. Weltmann. To follow up on the accusation, von Wenk participates in one of Weltmann′s group therapy meetings, however "Weltmann" is none other than a masked Mabuse himself. He manages to hypnotize the detective and commands him to kill himself by driving his car into a rock quarry.
But once again, von Wenk is saved at the last minute and then realizes that Mabuse is indeed the mastermind behind all of these evil deeds. Mabuse flees to an old factory, his insanity intensifying at an uncontrollable rate, and is haunted by the ghosts of all of his victims. Von Wenk storms into the factory and finds Dr. Mabuse, completely broken and senile.
