Die Vorstadtkrokodile

Summary

Highly-praised film version of Max von Grün′s youth novel that was produced for TV and was broadcast either as a complete film or in multiple parts. The story is centered on a group of children that is called "Vorstadtkrokodile" and whose members, boys and girls, all come from a working class quarter in the Ruhr area. When the boy Hannes takes on a test of courage to be finally accepted to the gang, he is exposed to life-threatening danger – and is saved by Kurt, of all people, who is paralyzed. Kurt would also like to join the gang but because of his paralysis the other children treat him as an outsider and often bully him. Kurt does not get his opportunity until one night he observes a group of burglars: With his help, the gang wants to help arrest the felons. That is the starting point of a thrilling adventure. In its course, the children have to amend some of their prejudices.
