Summary
Documentary about Gottfried Helnwein, who for now more than 30 years has been one of the most prominent, yet also one of the most disputes German-language artists. In the 1970s, he rose to fame with hyper-realistic works showing wounded children, and the dark, morbid photos and paintings he produced in the past two decades are equally unsettling. For two years, filmmaker Claudia Schmid followed Helnwein, combining observation and conversation in her portrait of an uncompromising artist.
