Summary
The film explains the surgical method of sterilizing men developed by and named after the Austrian Physiologist Eugen Steinach (1861-1944). The film shows the preparations for the operation, sterile surgical instruments and the patient, who is locally anesthetized on the operating table with cocaine. During the operation, the spermatic cords of the patient are laid bare and eventually severed. The incision is sewn together and the patient is able to rise from the operation table without feeling much pain and requiring further assistance.
