Summary
The first of three German silent films about the Jewish legend of the Golem: While digging a well, workers discover a statue molded out of clay. A Jewish second-hand dealer recognizes the Golem in the statue and succeeds to revive the statue by the means of a magic amulet. The Golem falls in love with the second-hand dealer’s daughter although she is drawn to a Count while the gigantic Golem scares her. He follows his beloved to a summer party where a life-and-death fight ensues.
