Summary
An anti-Semitic "Hetzfilm" (agitation film) after Goebbels′ conception; prototype of the NS "documentary", whose explicit goal is to evoke hate and aggression towards the Jews – and in the end, to justify genocide. Fritz Hippler, leader of the film bureau in the Propaganda Ministry, compiled archival material, posed or faked photos, and a panning scene of the Polish ghetto of Lodz, which suggests that Jews are inclined to be criminals, freeloaders and world-conspirators. Along with that comes a series of clips of Curt Bois, Charles Chaplin, Albert Einstein, Fritz Kortner, Peter Lorre, Ernst Lubitsch and Rosa Luxemburg, recast for defamation (for example, in equating actors with their roles as murderers). In one sequence, Jews are equated with rats. The ending sequence is a montage of Hitler′s Reichstag speech – in which he prophesies the "annihilation of European Jewry".
A second version "adapted for women and children" was produced, scenes portraying kosher butchering (ritual slaughter) of animals (intended to defame Jews as especially inhumane keepers of animals) were removed.
