Summary
Film version of the fairy tale "Des Kaisers neue Kleider" ("The Emperor′s New Clothes"): Hans and Kumpan, two penniless cloth-weaver assistants, come to a town where only happy people seem to live. With a trick, they cheat the strict guard to let them past the town walls into the city. On the next day, with the help of a maid, they even manage to get into the castle of the tyrannical emperor. The emperor then orders them to sew him a new robe that would make everyone freeze with respect and admiration. The trickster assistants promise the emperor to sew a high-priced robe for him that is so special that it can only be seen by people who are not dumb and who are doing their job well. When they present the robe that actually does not exist at all, the emperor of course cannot admit that he cannot see the robe. Thus, he puts on the imaginary Robe and presents himself on a big parade completely naked – and becomes the laughing stock of the people.
