Summary
Liberators Take Liberties
Two-part documentary about a taboo subject: the raping of German women by Allied soldiers at the end of WWII. As part of her research, filmmaker Helke Sander tries to investigate how many women were raped in Berlin in 1945, while also addressing the personal, psychological, political and medical consequences of these sexualized acts of violence. Along the statements by surviving victims, the film also includes interviews with former Red Army soldiers and with men and women who were conceived in those rapes.
