Summary
"Armenia" is a geographical, a historical and a psychological journey to the soul of a man, to the collective consciousness of crisis-ridden country and its people. Haig Boghos, a singer close to his 50th birthday and weary of life, embarks on a journey to reconstruct his family history which is determined by genocide, exile and diaspora. His odyssey leads him from Basel to Frankfurt and Marseille and to the most remote parts of the Caucasus in Armenia. Much more than just a reconstruction of family history, this journey becomes a spiritual quest for his personal identity in the diaspora. Alain Croubalian assumes the role of Haig Boghos, bringing in a personal history that mirrors the filmic story. He is the archetype of a displaced person.
