Summary
When Grandpa loved Rita Hayworth
1969. The first winter after the violent end of the Spring of Prague. Just as three astronauts are flying to the moon, thirteen-year-old Hannah and her crazy, young parents land in the German economic wonderland. A rough landing, as though on a completely different planet.Kuba, the father, feels satisfaction in finding confirmation of his prejudices against the Germans, while Lida, the mother, loses herself in consumerism, and her little sister loses her ability to speak. Hannah wants nothing more than to return to her grandfather, Zikmund. But when Zikmund dies and Neil Armstrong sets the first foot on the moon, Hannah realizes that she too will have to make her own first great step ... A melancholy comedy about being a stranger and growing up in the year of the first moon landing.
