Summary
In "Alfred," his graduation film at the Potsdam-Babelsberg Film Academy, documentarian Andreas Voigt portrays the 76-year-old former Leipzig communist Alfred Florstedt, whom he met immediately before his death in February 1985. Voigt reconstructs Florstedt's biography based on photos and tape recordings. In addition, he goes in search of traces during visits to Lindenau in the west of Leipzig and to the working-class neighborhoods of Plagwitz. "Alfred" is the prelude to Voigt's five-part "Leipzig Series".
