Kriegsgericht
Court Martial
In 1942, during the war, the German cruiser Pommern is drowned in a naval battle by the English navy. The crew of 1400 men goes down together with the ship. Only three seamen survive and are later saved by the crew of a German submarine. Lieutenant Düren, ensign Stahmer and petty officer Hinze are at first celebrated and awarded as heroes but soon their story turns into a different direction when the sceptical court officer Brenner gathers evidence against the three survivors and arrests them. At court, they are charged with cowardice and attempted desertion and sentenced to death.
