24 hours in Leipzig on a winter day. Karl the drifter meets Doris the waitress. Doris is in a voyeuristic relationship with the security specialist Brockmann, who sings off-key love songs in the karaoke bar where she works.

Fleeing their pasts, and avoiding their futures, the characters are nonetheless unable to escape the labyrinth of their emotions through the night.
